every one of these brings back memories, some that are sweet, and some that i would rather not think of haha.
the yamaha was my dad's old guitar, its around 20 years old now, and still in good condition. he used to play songs for my brother and i before we went to sleep back when i was really young and still staying at jurong west in a hdb flat. i think that was what inspired me to start picking up the guitar in the first place =) now i still use it quite often and its always beside my table, enabling me to indulge in it's six-strings whenever i feel like it.

my squire brought me through my first year or so in guitar playing, and my first performance too =) i remember all the jamming sessions i used to have at jurong east with rachakan, eugene, my bro and eva. haha then adnan would come and make sure i dont screw up as usual. rachakan would forget to learn stuff and everyone would be pissed off at him. but in the end, good times =)

all the way on the right was my brother's first bass. haha, blood brothers and brothers in music too. i can recall the times he was struggling with the basics as a beginner xD when i was scorning away at his n00bness then. i would teach him about scales and stuff, since ive alr spent more time with a guitar than he did.

all the way on the left was my second electric guitar, an Ibanez RGT64EX from the sweelee sale, which boasted a 50% discount storewide. rachakan has membership, so he brought me in, skipping the hellishly long long queue. choosing my guitar there was really hard, but this one caught my eye. it was either the glossy finish or the emg pickups i dont know haha. ever since, ive never regretted and it has really let me express music in a new different way. haha, whammy bar, 24 frets. it may not seem much, but you could do more with those! haha! its neck through though, so its a beauty in its own way.

to the right of my ibanez lies my brother's second bass. Ibanez RGSR600. haha man, he got that bass 6 months after i got my second. We performed during kindred's spirits with those two, two amazing nights are what they remind me of. sadly rachakan already went back to thailand, so he missed it with his very own JEM555. i still miss him and kinda wish that he didnt make that decision to go back to study there, and i guess he wouldnt be able to be a part of alt tab anymore =/

my guitars also brought back many memories of tough lessons with my teacher adnan. haha when i slacked or didnt know something, he'd make me do really stupid stuff, and scold me altogether. that instilled the discipline of doing work into me. for many years i have been under him, and i dont know what id do without him as my teacher haha. ill save my testimonial to him for another day though =D

haha, my instruments of expression and the friends who has been involved with them, i love you all.

Tomorrow marks the start of the whole stretch of papers for a week + 2 days. just not confident for chinese and lit lol.

anyway, today was really slack, with almost no lessons at all, mrs vastel was on mc and mr wong was involved with the graduation assembly, which took up all of our periods after recess =D so it was kinda cool. It was also the last day of school for the secondary 4s after their whole four years in sji. Personally, ive made a few good friends from that level, and im kinda sad that im not gonna see them around after and before school anymore. That includes my bro, whom obviously i get to see everyday, but its gonna be the last time im seeing him in school as a fellow josephian. No matter, all of them are still josephians at heart =D after school i went around shaking the hands of my friends and hugging them too. id definately get to see them again, but the next time they'd officially move on. Everyone was taking in the joyous mood, which includes my class.

the usual people were being rather silly in class, letting the balloons face the fearsome spinning of the fan's blades. Surprisingly, none of them exploded! haha. eugene inhaled helium and sounded liek a chimpmonk lol. that never gets old xD

oh well! the end of year exams are so anti climatic, sigh. good luck to all and god be with you =D

lol today was really rubbish, went to nat lib to study, then when i went home, as i was approaching the busstop,my bus was already there but the uncle just drove away when i ran for it o.o. okay then, so i waited, then the next bus came after 15 mins, oh great, it broke down at the busstop I was at! -.- waited again, for another 20 minutes before 960 came once again. sigh, that's real crap. when the bus broke down at my stop, i wondered if it was like a suspicious article inside or something, but luckily it wasnt. phewww.

heh final year exams im going to take you on.

dinner was great. sacrificing study-time for that food was definately worth it. No signboard restaurant at vivocity was really not bad. The highlight of the meal was the 3 crabs which tasted very good, however the white pepper crab stood out the most :D hands got dirty, shirts got stained, but it was a scrumptous meal. It was with my grandma and my other relatives, so i had a pretty good time there too. haha. i was smsing all the way through dinner though, kinda rude? lol. i was bored anyway. well im home now and ive gotta finish geog, tata!

math is like a maze,
english comprehension a crossword puzzle,
sciences soduku,
and geography minesweeper.

that's how i see it =D

okay readers.

the thing about your own problems - most of us have answers to our problems and such, it is just that most of us don't have the confidence to just dig into themselves to find the answer. If you say that it sounds simple enough, but still can't do it or dont see sense in the nonetheless, trust yourself more. Im not saying dont talk to others about it, yes, share the problems, ask for advice, but inevitably it boils down to you to just put the "SOLVED" stamp on that problem of yours. if you depend on others too much for comfort, its not a bad thing, and its not wrong.  just that one day you'd find that if you keep coming back with the same problem, and expect others to settle it the same way everytime, it gets a little frustrating when it delivers that message that whatever others had done to help you is just void.

most people try to teach others to fish so that they can catch their own food,
what happens when he comes back everyday to ask how does he go about doing it, when you already gave him tips, advice and put in a whole lot of effort doing it? Especially when his problem is just "i don't want to wait so long for my fish", no not with the method, but with the fact that catching the fish takes too much time for him.

moving on to other stuff,
final years are coming. i hope everyone works hard, especially my friends whom i love. seeing joy in others brings joy to myself. =)
may the gods so speed you.

cheers

graduation day

  • Sep. 20th, 2008 at 7:58 PM

what a joyous occasion, graduation day for the sec 4s once again. and im pretty "lucky" to be on duty for two years running alr! this year was a little diff, i knew many many more of the sec 4s, and my brother was there too. seeing the sji spirit all around, it lifted my spirits too. it didnt matter that duty sucked in the early afternoon, waiting for the VIPs and doing carpark duty. Serving food to the parents and the graduating friends of mine was fulfulling too. i wouldnt mind going on duty again next year, and the year after that itll be my year to experience the thing for myself =D

the day went as follows ----- morning, KOTO exam ----- school for duty ----- carpark duty for the early afternoon ----- break ----- serving reception ---- home. yea that's it

well thanks sun, you made my day........ REALLY HOT WTFFFF.

school semi-sucked (lol), cos it was sooo freaking hot, and EVERYONE was feeling lathargic as hell, even douglas slept lah, since when did he sleep in class. we were all restless and being retarded due to that. couldnt concentrate too much after recess, cos that's when the sun showed NO mercy. awwwww. crappp. i was all sticky for the day, even when i went to j8 to mug with casey, stelle, zena and jang. =((

oh well, today was fun. i feel that i kinda know most of my sciences and maths already, but im still in the state of denial for geog, im escaping from the reality that geog has alot to study for  LOL. oh well, ill come out of it soon, :D

I was looking for someone to study with today, so on friday night, i asked kelly to go, and yea, she got sabrina too and we met at rail mall in the morning, like at 10. kinda feel bad for making them travel all the way to a place 5 mins walking dist from my house. We mugged at subway first, where kelly and i had breakfast and then went to coffee bean after being chased out lol! (too many customers) Coffee bean's a really nice place to study, even though i didnt buy anything, it was cold enough, lighted enough and not too noisy. i did alot of math, and revised bio, and physics (well, i revised what i could). and when i was hungry, at around 2, i asked them to go eat at EAT just a few shops down. oh and brandon came with tim chua halfway, so yea they were still there while we went to eat.

I don't get what's up with some girls and not eating haha, i was really hungry by then already but kelly and sabs were like "not hungry" wtf. i convinced sabrina to buy food too, so yea we both had food while kelly was just stoning. -.- went back to coffee bean lol, and brandon just left his books and bag at the table to go to ANOTHER shop to have lunch haha! so we decided to take care of his and tim's stuff first while they eat. talked about alot of crap in the meantime lollll.

when they came back, they got chased out xD and so we decided to go hang out somewhere else, and that place was vivo! so i went back home to change my clothes and we all set off together (tim chua went home already) somehow kelly got really carsick on the bus, so should i call it BUS-sick LOL. okay nevermind. i think if i continued reading my book for the rest of the journey id be dizzy too, but luckily i stopped lol.

it was like 5 + when we reached vivo, so sabrina decided to go home first, and the rest of us carried on. brandon needed to buy diapers and powder milk for my mom hahaha, so yea we went with him to giant to get the stuff before hitting the arcade where we had a considerable amount of fun hahaha. air hockey was OWNAGE!

nearing dinner time, we said byebye to kelly and walked to my aunt's house for dinner. stayed there till quite late cos of the man U liverpool match that everyone was watching haha. and then here i am at home, blogging :D see ya!

really feel that this's a nice picture. found this pic at some website. he used real guitars and all just for his project.

anyway, today was pretty awesome, well i can say that i look forward to class everyday, where i get to experience 204ness at the back of the class, esp today, when almost everyone at the back was high or something, esp kiat.

i think he got drunk on his own saliva, he started doing all sorts of hilarious things, and we all had our laughs as some of us participated in this antics. we made something called the SJI messenger, which was like msn on paper xD really cool writing on it even though it was lame or something. i brought the paper home, id scan soon after i censor off all the unpleasant comments hahahah.

whoopie, the weekends are here again, which means more sleep! mugging's gonna be cool, i dont think i wanna do it alone anyway, so yea, id get people.

training was pretty fun haha, except for master parade, where we needed to stand there for quite awhile, wathcing people recieve prizes. we did footdrills after that, and it was quite intensive, i was timer halfway through, and even though i screwed up the first few times, i gave it my all in the subsequent attempts. footdrills are actually quite fun, esp with all the malay commands haha, most of which i have to know how to say cos im in the comp team.

did transportation of casualty after training, purely because of TEAM LEO being enthu! gogogogo! lol. was really fun, stretchering people around, loading them and bringing them off, going over certain obstacles, most importantly, as a team. yea man, we'll own at comp next year im sure!

today, i would like to say that i do recognise the care of my teachers. mrs kwok, mrs lee, mrs vastel and chen lao shi all being female teachers, do love us a whole lot. even if they seem to give up on us sometimes, we all know that they're trying to make us see what's right. people in 204, do treasure their concern, the year's coming to an end, and we're all going our seperate ways. we still have one more hurdle to pass, the hurdle's coming pretty soon, and our beloved teachers are still pushing at it. putting in that little effort to attempt your homework everyday makes a big difference, it would satisfy them everytime even though you think they wouldnt show it.

im sure all if not at least one of these caring teachers had make a difference in your life, be it in acedemics or moral values, you shoud know it, because ive seen them at it, and sometimes its just appaling that my fellow friends don't see why or how they should do something about it. perhaps that's why sometimes i tell some of my fellow classmates to study, and i keep doing so, in hope that i somehow make a difference, or light a spark.

anyway, more or less finished studying bio while staying back with yong chang after school at the lib. sorry if i couldnt teach much, bio's so dead to learn, and somehow very much easy to grasp for me at this point of time. its like everything's refreshed at the sight of certain words. thanks to douglas for the geog worksheet hahaha. okay, this term's gonna get pretty fun, FUN WITH KNOWLEDGE YAYYYY. haha, see, if you put it in a way that... when you study, you gain exp, then you can level up, its fun! okay, who am i kidding, you readers would think im nuts, and that's a little too exaggerated too hahaha. just tried polishing my boots, realised the burning of my shoe left cracks, so there goes shininess!

highlight of the day:

in the class of 204, nicholas's wallet went missing, when it was found ( in the toilet ) , the money was gone!!! investigations started, jude tan came and settled certain things, form teacher talked to those people who were present yesterday during oral ( which was when it happened ). OKAY LOOK, WHOEVER'S STEALING THE FREAKING STUFF, you're just RETARDED and IDIOTIC. i dont suspect anyone in the class, cos i more or less know them. but then if one of my friends were to be the culprit, id be so disappointed. =/ firstly, i hardly suspect anyone, so i guess that wont happen! sigh, first it was joel, then glen, then yong chang and now nicholas.

Sep. 9th, 2008

  • 8:20 PM

highlight of the day:

lessons were pretty okay. OH we watched mark antony's speech, lol. they speak really loud back then o.o

anyway, had training today again. the 100 pushups at the start of every training's becoming easier and easier every session. well that's good :D

so we didnt do pt today, which is usually killer. more of footdrills.

BTW. footdrills arent all about marching, its pretty cool in some ways, esp when you get to shout the drills haha. but some of them are really long and since i dont know malay, i have a little difficulty saying them with confidence, and i joshua commented on that lol. i guess its cos i was pretty tired too. (mentally) then T.O.C was next (transportation of casualty), which is what all this pt is for, carrying an 80 kg guy through obstacles that are just retarded. -.- a good start for the team, we're learning pretty quick according to josh, but that i need to work up on my confidence on being a leader and stuff. yea, i sure do, and i will!

team LEO wants to leave a legacy, and we will do our best to. =D

RIOT

  • Sep. 7th, 2008 at 5:54 PM

lol no its not Paramore, but its RIOT for a cause! the gig alt tab played at today. it was a great experience once again, up on stage.

well, the day started off early for me, waking up at 7 to try to finish up my homework, however i didnt have enough time to finish everything so ima do it now =/ reached holy spirit church at 11+ and hanged around. Jacques was there at like 9.30? wth, to practice lolll. anyway, by the time we got there, all our homies were present already. from 12-2 we had soundchecks and all, and every band got their turn. Somehow, i mingled with the acsi band lol. weird huh, sji boy talking to acsi boys, but they were friendly people, so yea, not bastards at all. they're also like better at guitar or something, they're like those jazz/funk style people. and they would put up a nice performance later on.

yong chang came, and thanks buddy for coming, alone somemore >.< but i hope you enjoyed it, cos you took the time to come and support me haha. anyway, when the gig started, the emcees were super lame, with stupid jokes to entertain the 100 odd crowd. the bands played in this order:

Helloconspiracy
To be confirmed
Exit 9
*intermission*
Look at luke
Jervis
ALTERNATE TABBB!!!

haha for To be confirmed, matthew, rae, sabrina, jacques and i all went to the front to give gerrad and kelly our support!!! kelly was really nervous o.o i could her it when she sang the first few lines of How Six Songs Collide, anyway, good job guys! gerrad was then swarmed by a group of girls during the intermission xD hahaha.

whee we were the last performance, and hell yea it was awesome, we played gifts and curses, we are one tonight and dance inside :D enjoyed our time on stage, especially when knowing that we had many supporters in the crowd =D haha. made alot of new friends through this experience, and ive gotta thank every single one of them who made this a great one. thanks kelly (organiser), rae, sabrina, esther, gerrad, daniel, kenneth (who broke his guitar =( )  shawn, and all the other people that i met there - the other bands and all. Not forgetting my OWN BAND!! gogogo alt tab! hope to get the vids and pics soon and ill upload them.

didnt really get the reason for judges though, everyone got a token of appreciation. haha, so ive got lotsa candy here now! woot.

oh well, it was the last day of fun, im going to start serious mode for final years today already. gotta finish writing portfolio first -.- blehh.

Sep. 6th, 2008

  • 9:39 PM

woah man, really tiring day i went through today. went for comp team training in the morning, which was really tough, considering its our first training. When we saw officer Wai Cheung there, we knew that the 18 year old ns man would make training hell. And so it was true to my (our team)'s belief, we were in for some difficult PT. i know all you sportsmen out there might think nothing of the pt we had but it was sure hell for us. esp when we all were supposed to do it as a team, no own time, no own pace, 1 for all all for 1 all the way. someone tio tekkan, all kena tekkan =(

i think most people would find 100 pushups as not a big deal, but when you gotta go down for quite some time (gotta wait for the others everytime), and furthermore not everyone was of the same fitness level, so when you wait for others to complete their pushup, it takes a heavy toll man. That was just the routine "warmup" every training -.- and ive gotta say we stayed in that position for really really long, arms went numb. pushing up isnt the problem, waiting is D= after that we did PT, which was 6 sets of 50 pushups, 50 situps, 50 jumping jacks, and a 1 min 30 sec sprint around the track. oh well, once again for us, it was tough. we arent that hardy just to let you know. tried our best though! we'll be fit in the end, under the inspirational WaiCheung. No idea why the hell he joined sjab in the first place, i dont know what kind of muscles he has, serious. he's just.... strong? yeap.

well, from st john's, you cant not expect first aid. and it was fun man, really interesting, cos we did casualty simulations, and then there were procedures and such, which was fun learning, cos we made mistakes, some which were stupid and what not. it ended at 1, when it was supposed to end at 5 cos many of us had to leave. yay, no more hell for the day. went to far east with everyone who went for training to have lunch, (kfc). cant believe im throwing all the shit into my system. argghhh. FAST FOOD MAKES ME FEEL GUILTY ABOUT DESTROYING MY OWN BODYYYY

being all stinky from sweat, i had to go home before heading down to rehersal!

had alot of fun at RIOT for a cause rehersals, got to know matthew's friends better, and yea we had a good time. out of all the bands, i think acsi still has it -.- even though its not the normal mainstream music you'd hear, they're tight, and a very funk style band. go music! but its like, SJI + ACSI = rivalry lol. so matthew was critisizing here and there even though there wasnt much bad stuff to talk about.

at around 7+, we all went for dinner at thompson plaza, withhhh matthew jacques brandon kelly sabrina kenneth glen shaun esther rae gerrad daniel. haha, had a great time too =D then took a cab back with bro cos it was raining like !#$%

oh my, gotta wake up early tomorrow, to FINISH - GOH SIN TUB WRITING PORTFOLIO
damndamndamn x 10
but its gotta be done, like so many other things. sighhh.

gig tomorrow. woot woot woot!

good night!

hahahaha! once again gregory's small boy-ness(?) cracked me up.
on the first picture, its supposed to be "on my holidays, on my weekends, i went to the MRT with papa and i saw tutl ad il (???) fullstop" LOL
and the second i think its "please bring my school book back today. Mom please give the school" hahaha. okay perhaps you cant see it too clearly, but it was really funny. i cant laugh too much, he only starts grade 1 this year (he's in an international school) so yea.

okay so to the homework checklist :
only left goh sin tub writing portfolio and lit poem anthology thing.

once again, english homeworks are the last to be touched! freak, they're gonna be so boring.

anyway, busy day tomorrow, sat and sun, so :P screw the idea of studying this holiday.

Sep. 3rd, 2008

  • 3:20 PM

spent my morning getting ready for jamming at bugis, then headed off with my bro and met the guys there. mat brought kelly, rae and sabrina there too, to watch us lol. RIOT's coming up soon, this sunday 2-4 at holy spirit church, ive got tickets, so anyone wanna go can buy from me :D we went through the lineup, and hitting the high notes of we are one tonight was really straneous on the throat, luckily we bought drinks! haha. after that we went to bugis junction for lunch, where we had a good time, before going home. arghh, tuition's up next in my schedule, 2 hours of chinese once again -.-

note to self : girls like catchy high pitched songs, stuff that resembles click five, all time low, we the kings xD

im singing all the choruses with matthew, and im not too sure how we'll sound live lol, cos sometimes its just not there, the pitch i mean.

we are one tonight:

I'll rise
I'll fall
I'll fail you all

We built these cities to stand so tall
We've lost our walls

I don't want to lose it, coming down
With the whole world upside-down
I don't have a soul to trust in now
With the whole world upside-down

We are one, tonight!
And we're singing it out!
We are one, tonight!
And we're dreaming out loud!

And the world is flawed
But these scars will heal

We are one, tonight!
Tonight!
Tonight!

Two eyes
One tongue
I've come
Undone

I'm no victim
I paid these dues
I came to lose

I don't want to fight about it now
With the whole world upside-down
I don't have a soul to trust in, now
With the whole world upside-down

We are one, tonight!
And we're singing it out!
We are one, tonight!
And we're dreaming out loud!

And the world is flawed
But these scars will heal

We are one, tonight!
Tonight!
Tonight!
Tonight!
Tonight!
Tonight!

I don't want to lose a common ground
With the whole world upside-down
I don't want to fight about it now
And the world was burning out

Let's slow the evening down
Slow it down
Slow down
Please slow down
Down
Down

The stars are comin' out!

We are one
We are one
We are one
We are one tonight
We are one tonight
And were singing it out
We are one tonight
And were dreaming out loud
And the world is flawed,
But these scars will heal

We are one tonight!
Tonight!
